Mr. Friedrichs was a manufacturer of artists' materials, and he used this unit as his private office. The adjacent courtyard served as a lumber yard. The building was converted to a movie theatre in 1910, and later converted to a boutique cooperative, uniquely comprised of 3 buildings surrounding 2 common courtyards.
