Once a part of the flagship retail space for Brooklyn's most active clothing manufacturer and purveyor, this 2300 square foot triplex is a thoughtful concoction of dramatic & flexible spaces, carved into an 1880's cast iron building on Williamsburg's South Side.

The arrival area unfurls to reveal an archetypal great room with 16 foot ceilings, drawing in Western light from a wall of windows. The main floor includes a walk-in coat closet with washer/dryer, open kitchen, a full bathroom, & a bedroom with a lofted yoga retreat. An open staircase ascends to a secluded loft used as the master sleeping area, with a walk in closet & en-suite bathroom, garnished with a vintage porcelain sink & steam shower. The loft is clad with reclaimed cedar from New York's iconic wooden water towers, creating a cozy enclosure that can be opened via specially designed casement windows.

On the lower level, there are two rooms that can be recombined into one large, open space. Sonically isolated & under near 10-foot ceilings, this floor beckons to be transformed into a music studio, screening room, recreation room, or workshop. Historic 19th-century adornments are peppered throughout the apartment, including luscious tin ceilings, Corinthian columns, & exposed structural brick.

Williamsburg's Smith, Gray & Co. Building has occupied the corner of Broadway & Bedford since 1884. Designed by architect W. H. Gaylor, its plans called for a Neo Grec-style cast iron facade by Jackson Iron Works. Purpose built, it contained manufacturing & ground floor sales spaces for the era's preeminent children's' clothing manufacturer.

Smith, Gray & Co. residents enjoy a common rooftop deck, a ground floor garden, and laundry on each floor. The building has an elevator and full time superintendent, & is close to the J, M, and Z trains at Marcy Avenue and Broadway.
