330 East 38th St. — known as  “The Corinthian” — is a 57-story apartment building that was New York City's largest apartment building when it opened in 1988, replacing The East Side Airlines Terminal.

Architects Der Scutt and John Schimenti designed the high-rise with a unique look — cylindrical grooves that sort of resemble the shape of Chicago’s Lake Point Tower, which debuted 20 years earlier. It’s a stark — and refreshing — contrast to the supertall, boxy towers (i.e. 432 Park Avenue) that cropped up around Central Park in the 2010s and 2020s.

At 1.1 million square feet, The Corinthian is the largest project of real estate developer Bernard Spitzer. It occupies a full city block between First Avenue and Tunnel Entrance Street and between East 37th and 38th Streets, and overlooks the Manhattan entrance to the Queens-Midtown Tunnel.

At the entrance to the building is a cascading, semicircular waterfall and an Aristides Demetrios bronze sculpture "Peirene” — inspired by the iconic ancient fountain in Corinth. Its lobby is 90 feet long and 28 feet high.

In addition to its architectural design, this Murray Hill residence is known for its tremendous bay windows that provide beautiful views of both the East River and the city skyline.
