While searching for office space for his insurance business, Rogers met the owner of Flory Real Estate, a Sarasota real estate company which began in 1925. The owner, surprisingly, offered to sell the real estate company along with leasing the office space. An agreement was reached, and with no prior real estate experience, Rogers purchased the company, and introduced himself to the agents in the office as the new owner.
