About Malek Abdulsamad

Malek is an architect, urban planner and a real estate consultant who enjoys living in a dense, vibrant and complex city. Being an architect, Malek has extensive experience is designing residential and commercial properties through his past job at I.D. Architecture where he worked on a variety of projects including retail, hotels and residential multi-family buildings. Malek specializes in commercial real estate and investment sales, he enjoys advising investors and working with growing companies and advising them on their commercial real estate strategy. Beside Real Estate, Malek is the author of the Streeterville Neighborhood Plan of 2014, co-author of the New Development annual brief for the Streeterville Chamber of Commerce 2015-18, member of the steering committee for the Central Area Connector Transitway study by the Chicago Central Area Committee 2017, and an active participant in different community planning initiatives concerning downtown Chicago including the Chicago Neighborhoods Now initiative by the Department of Planning and Development and others. Prior to joining Compass, Malek worked at Related Realty, the brokerage arm of Related Midwest and was awarded the 2018 Curt Baily Excellence Award for outstanding performance. Malek has a Masters' degree in Urban Planning and Policy from the University of Illinois at Chicago and is an American Planning Association- IL Award recipient.
