Liana Chen Silverstein-Backal Douglas Elliman Liana Backal has an innate passion for real estate. While earning her Finance degree from NYU's Stern School, she managed a thriving rental office in the West Village. Many of her NYC rental clients have since purchased property from her. Related to a prominent real estate family, she understands the complexities, demands and nuances of the business. Her goal is to get her clients and friends the best possible outcome while providing knowledge, comfort and unparalleled customer service. Liana and her family are active in philanthropy. Most notably, she co-founded the Food Allergy Initiative (FAI- now know as FARE), the leading non-profit dedicated to finding a cure for life-threatening food allergies which affects her children and spouse Under her leadership, this national organization has educated schools, families, colleges and other institutions. FARE has advocated for airplane regulations, restaurant training, providing epinephrine in public places, food labeling laws and everything related to this condition. Her philanthropic efforts, coupled with a strategic sales background, allow Liana to understand the emotional and financial demands of any transaction. Whether selling, renting or buying your home, she knows this is one of your most important and financially-substantial life decision. Liana loves facilitating and working closely with her clients, whether it be overseeing renovations, helping with decor, staging, or collaborating with other agents. She speaks fluent Portuguese and English and is learning Mandarin and Spanish. Liana bought her Upper East Side co-op 25 years ago. She and her husband, Arthur Backal, a hospitality guru, spend time in their home in Brookville, Long Island. Her children are NYC born and raised. 28, 25 and 14 years old.
