SandmanTeamOBX.comBeing a Realtor here on the Outer Banks in a resort market is perhaps the most dynamic career I could have pursued. It has allowed me the opportunity to meet so many people from all over the northeast (most who purchase here are within about a days drive distance from OBX) and some from points significantly farther away. But one thing they all have in common is their love for the Outer Banks and its uniqueness, its beauty, the sights and smell of the Atlantic Ocean and the warmth of sand in your toes ... it is a place where you can feel peace and enjoy God's amazing design.I relocated from Rockville Maryland area quite a few years ago but still have friends and family in the DC area. I dont miss the traffic! You who come from there or through there on your way here know what I mean! I graduated from American University in DC with a degree in law enforcement as my original plan was to be a Secret Service Agent like my Uncle Ed who was a seasoned agent by that time and actually headed Jimmy Carters detail after Carter left the White House. I had heard some amazing stories of travel and dignitaries, etc., and thought I would love that. I also had thoughts of a career in the military and this was well after the Vietnam war had ended. Probably I would have loved being a US Marshall as they are fairly autonomous. Just after graduating the Country was in a recession and there were no job openings. That and I discovered that at about that time the Service and the FBI were looking for law degrees and accounting degrees. I became a bank manager at Citizens Bank in Maryland (now no longer in existence) which seemed a natural progression as I had been a bank teller working full time through college. While in bank management I earned my Maryland Real Estate license and began to work part time in that business on the weekends. One Saturday I sold a home I had listed and my sellers turned around and bought a new home through me on Sunday ... so I made 3 sales in one weekend. I did the match and decided I liked this business and have never looked back. I obtained my North Carolina real estate license through reciprocity at the time and began my career here as a full time Realtor and have enjoyed it thoroughly - even through the difficulties of down markets.I am blessed to have 3 great adult children (Kyle 35, Morgan 25 and Jordan 22) pursuing their own dreams. I couldn't be more proud. Love golf, motorcycles, bicycling, short trips, hiking, long walks ... love the Sun ... especially when it stays light out till 9pm! :-) On the work front I am blessed to have Lisa Walters and Debbie Knieper rounding out our Sandman Team ... we are well organized, responsive, enjoy what we do, and we actually find it fun ... and, oh yes, we like each other! :-)If you are thinking of purchasing a property or possibly selling an Outer Banks property that you own ... contact me direct 252-202-3834 cell, or email [email protected].
