I kind of fell into real estate by accident. It was 2002 and my wife was pregnant. She dreamt of quitting her job to raise our son Brice full time. The problem was we were a young couple starting in life and we had just bought our first home. I had less than 6 months to figure out how to make her dream come true. I had no idea how I was going to pull it off until the day I asked a Realtor friend of mine: "How's business?" She put a huge smile on her face and said loudly: Eric, "It's unbelievable!" So, I said to myself: "Well, if it's that unbelievable, that's what I am going to do!" Little did I know that every agent you talk to will tell you business is unbelievable regardless of how well they're really doing... Lol I jumped in with both feet. It wasn't long after we decided we needed a larger living room and more bedrooms. I became my own client. I experienced firsthand what selling a home to buy another feels like. Selling to buy is complex and stressful. When I say I understand, I mean it. First, there was preparing our house. From deep cleaning the kitchen to painting and sprucing up the yard, there was a lot. We were both working so it had to be done on weekends or late evenings. Then there were the short-notice showings. Every single day, before we left for work we had to make sure things were spotless. And we didn't always agree on everything. Getting the right price was my priority. Whereas, my wife was focused on finding a replacement home on time and without settling. Under pressure, we had a difficult time settling our disagreements. And then, of course, there was closing both the sale and purchase at the same time. It's amazing how much stuff we'd accumulated in 5 years. Planning the logistics of a move is not for the faint of heart if that's not something you do frequently. It felt like an obstacle course and I can say without a doubt I hate moving. That's why I set out to create a better experience for my clients Life gets busy and the last thing you want is to pack your to-do list with more stuff. And sometimes, the simple idea of undertaking a move can seem so overwhelming that procrastinating feels like the right thing to do.
