About Lauren Starr

As a lifelong New Yorker, Lauren has extensive knowledge of the city. As a former professional photographer, she has a well-honed visual acumen. She uses both of these qualities, along with her enthusiasm for helping people find their ideal homes, to make the buying and selling processes not only easier for her clients but enjoyable as well. The city was Laurens muse as a photographer before she began her real estate career. Her photographs of New York can be found in the permanent collections of the Whitney Museum of Art and the New-York Historical Society; her iconic 9/11 image taken through the Washington Square Arch has won multiple awards and been viewed in museums and galleries worldwide. It was while searching for an apartment for her young family that she realized her understanding of aesthetics and designafter studying art history at Brown University she earned a graduate degree from the International Center for Photographywould give her a unique advantage in the real estate industry. Born and raised on the Upper East Side, Lauren lived downtown for a long stint before returning to the Upper East Side with her husband and their two daughters. Outside of her work in real estate, Lauren dedicates her considerable energies to several philanthropic causes including the Essex Street Academy, a public school on the Lower East Side, and Sanctuary for Families, a charity for victims of domestic abuse.
