Trump Park Avenue

502 Park Avenue, located in Manhattan’s Upper East Side, has gone through many transitions throughout its history. This neo-Renaissance style building, designed by architecture firm Goldner & Goldner, was first built in 1929 as the Viceroy Hotel and promptly purchased by New York investor Benjamin Winter Sr. It then fell victim to the subsequent stock market crash and, from there, became the Cromwell Arms.

By the 1960s, it was renamed Hotel Delmonico’s. It was during this time that the hotel brought a new meaning to the phrase “locally-sourced.” According to The New York Times, so much water from the De Voor’s Mill Stream trickled through a narrow cemented canal in the hotel cellar’s floor that hotel employees were able to go fishing and actually catch sunfish.

It was also here that, in 1964, singer/songwriter Bob Dylan met The Beatles in their sixth-floor suite and introduced them to cannabis.

Ten years later, the building was converted into apartments. By 1977, Christie’s leased the Hotel Delmonico’s grand ballroom on the second floor as its first international auction house.

In 1990, the late Sarah Korein — a legendary real estate investor and dealmaker — converted 502 Park back to a hotel. Former U.S. President and real estate developer Donald Trump eventually purchased the hotel from Korein's estate in 2001 for $115 million and hired architect Costas Kondylis to renovate it into condominiums. Now known as Trump Park Avenue, one of the changes made was the addition of a seven-story glass box to the top of the north side of the tower.

Today, 502 Park Ave contains 120 residencies, all with top-of-the-line appliances and fixtures. Its Lenox Hill location grants residents easy access to Central Park, Madison Avenue’s shops, upscale restaurants, and public transportation, including the N, R, W, Q, 4, 5, 6, F, E and M subway lines.

502 Park Ave has a long history of luxury and attentive staff. In 1964, guests received terry cloth robes and a Rolls-Royce shuttle to the airport.
