32 East 64th St. is located at the southeast corner of Madison Avenue. This 10-story apartment building — dubbed The Verona — was completed in 1908 and has 20 large apartments.

Fashioned in New-Venetian Renaissance style, it’s considered one of the most distinguished apartment houses along Madison Ave. Architect William E. Mowbray modeled it after the Strozzi Palace in Florence, Italy.  Mowbray also duplicated the design of The Verona after the facade of the Home Club — located at 15 East 45th Street — which was designed in 1906 by Gordon Tracy and Swartwout. At that time, copyright protection for architectural designs did not exist.

The first floor is constructed of rusticated limestone, while the upper floors are made of detailed Roman brick. The building's facade also stands out due to its arched windows and arched entrance, which is flanked by bronze lamp posts.

One of the most prominent features of the oversized, detailed sheet metal cornice along the roof line. It is close to 8 feet high, projects 6 feet from the building, and is 260 feet long.

In 1986, it was discovered that the cornice was extremely deteriorated — especially its stamped zinc ornament moldings. A $600,000 repair was ordered and architects restored the cornice to its original beauty.

Modern amenities include a roofdeck and fitness center. Subway lines — the 4/5/6 and N/R/W/Q trains — are nearby.
