THE BUILDING: Rosario Candela was an architect who is credited with defining New York's characteristic terraced setbacks and signature penthouses. His greatest work occurred during the latter half of the 1920's when he designed numerous buildings on Manhattan's East Side, primarily on Fifth and Park Avenues and Sutton Place.
