The Columbia

A quirky building in Manhattan Valley, The Columbia has a lot going on both inside and out. Aside from being in one of the best neighborhoods in Manhattan, this unique building is sought after for the quality of their apartments and the amenities they provide. This full service building has a full time doorman and porter for your convenience. The Columbia also has a wide variety of amenities like a swimming pool, saunas, steam rooms, a fitness center, squash and ratchet ball courts, a children’s playroom, a laundry room, and an event space. Residents are allowed to have up to two dogs in their home as long as those dogs are under 50 pounds.

Units in The Columbia are big, ranging from one to three bedrooms apartments, though units can be altered and combined to fit the owner’s needs. Units with more than two bedrooms usually have two bathrooms, which come equipped with large vanities, medicine cabinets, and deep soaking tubs with shower heads. Select units have walk-in showers.

Units are kept nice and bright thanks to the outdoor space most of them have. The few units that lack a balcony or terrace still have large windows that flood rooms with natural light. Living and sleeping spaces are lined with hardwood flooring and kept comfortable thanks to the central heating and air. Kitchens come fully equipped with dishwashers, refrigerators, gas stoves, and ovens.

The Columbia was designed by Frank Williams, one of the most famous architects of the 20th century. Largely responsible for the current look of the Upper West Side, The Columbia was part of a building boom started by Williams and his associates. Other famous NYC projects of Frank Willams are The Belaire, The Vanderbuilt, and World Wide Plaza.
