About This Property

The property was originally one of the state homesteading parcels.  The original homesteadera€™s cabin rests on the 5 acre parcel that is carved out of the property and neighbors reside in.  The rest of the property was relatively untouched until 1998 when the drive way was put in and small wood-frame cabin with a kitchen, living room and two upstairs bedrooms was built. It was built on post and pad foundation.  A small wood-frame shop and shed were also built that year.  No power, phone, or water was available at that time.  The property was designed with a first class dog mushing facility/kennel in mind.  A three-sided log 16x16 handlera€™s cabin with A¾ loft and a well were added in 1999 with a post and pad foundation.  In 2004 the original cabin was expanded to include a utility room for running water and power to be added as well as a large family/all-purpose room with a wrap-around deck.  The addition has a crawl space and post and pad foundation. The addition created a total of 1,192 sq. ft. of living space.  A large wood-frame shop facility was also added with cold-storage on one end and heated-floor dog barn at the other end.  A poured concrete pad was used for the foundation.  The large shop upstairs area included a full-bath and laundry area as well as office and storage area.  It also offered guest sleeping quarters.  The shop is 3396 sq. ft. plus 960 sq. ft. upstairs.  Another shop/theatre building (1275 sq. ft plus A½ loft) was built in 2004 but not completed until 2005.  The foundation was poured concrete.  The shop included a presentation area, gift-shop, and office upstairs.  A small 12x16 guest cabin was also built with three-sided logs that year as well. The foundation was a post and pad.  In 2006 a structure was started with the hopes of expanding the tourism to include a B&B.  It includes a poured footer (concrete) foundation with 4 foot crawl/storage space.  More work was done on it in 2007 and 2008 ensuring the 24 x32 two-story log structure was completely enclosed.  There is also a large poured concrete pad that was poured with the idea of another B&B structure or a large garage with an apartment above it.  The inside was not completed as the current owners relocated to Fairbanks in the fall of 2009. The property has had a few renters but the owners have resided at the property from spring to fall the last 2 years and this year will continue to reside throughout the winter.  The facilities could be easily used for rentals, storage, a kennel to house animals for folks visiting the Denali area, a B& B, etc.  The trail around the kennel was built for giving rides with gravel underneath.  There was the start of a clearing with the possibility of a small air strip being possible but never fully investigated.  This property is full of potential.
