100 Barclay

100 Barclay St., sometimes referred to as the old Verizon Building, touts “Roaring ‘20s dimensions” but with a 21st-century style. It was designed by renowned architect Ralph Thomas Walker in 1927 and became emblematic of the Art-Deco style that was popular at the time.  Walker also designed 1 Wall St.

With 33 floors and a total of 157 condos, this Tribeca tower is pure opulence — especially its duplex penthouse, which takes up the last two floors. The residence spans roughly 14,500-square-feet, has a living room larger than an NBA basketball court and was listed for $59 million back in 2018, per the Wall Street Journal.

100 Barclay is managed by the CIM Group, one of the developers behind 432 Park Avenue, as well as Ben Shaoul’s Magnum Real Estate, which also owns 196 Orchard Street, 100 Avenue A, 87 Leonard Street, The Arman, 389 East 89th Street and The Luminaire in Gramercy Park.

Magnum Real Estate transformed this century-old building into a modern luxury, giving it a long list of amenities including a lap pool, four outdoor terraces, spas and a wine-tasting room. There’s also a music facility equipped with soundproof spaces for jam sessions, billiards, a teen lounge, gaming area, a “Playgarden-designed” room for kids and a business center for conferences.

The surrounding Tribeca neighborhood is also filled with plenty of perks: ballfields, dog parks, playgrounds, piers, shopping, restaurants and of course a major film festival. Among the parks that are in close proximity include Washington Market Park, Albert Capsuoto Park and Hudson River Park, which is home to the Manhattan Sailing School. Residents that are particularly active can use the local volleyball courts, soccer fields, kayaks launch sites, a trapeze site and even mini golf.
