The Real Housewives and Their Homes for Sale – New York Edition

For RHONY fans, nothing is more exciting than the friendships, drama, and the superficial shenanigans of these Manhattan moms. In the Big Apple, where you live often indicates how successful you are, and it is not surprising to see the Housewives in some of the most extravagant homes in the most popular nabes in the city, such as SoHo, Lenox Hill, and the Upper West Side. This week, in Celebrity Real Estate, we bring you the Housewives and their real estate games.

Bethenny Frankel – 22 Mercer Street #2D

Bethenny Frankel, the founder of Skinnygirl and author of I Suck at Relationships So You Don’t Have To, has starred eight of the 11 RHONY seasons since 2008. Her outspokenness and her emotional journey surrounding her ex-boyfriend Daniel Shields’ death make her the favorite of many fans. Now dating Paul Bernon, a film producer and real estate professional, Frankel is off to a good and fresh new start, of which includes selling her SoHo designer loft at 22 Mercer Street.

Located in the heart of Lower Manhattan, 22 Mercer Street #2D features 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a wood-burning fireplace, and a small balcony right by the sunken living room. Spanning over 2,000 square feet, the unit is brightly lit with natural light, thanks to the three triple-paned arched large windows and 14-foot high ceilings. The dream-like, open-layout kitchen features a beautifully designed kitchen island, imported marble countertops, a state-of-the-art ventilation system, stainless-steel appliances by SubZero, Gaggenau, and Miele, and a five-burner Wolf range.

The bedrooms are equally astonishing. The master bedroom suite features a stunning custom-designed walk-in closet and a luxurious marble bathroom with his and her sinks, a bathtub, and a steam/standing shower. The second bedroom, while not as big as the master bedroom suite, still offers lots of living space, with a contemporary en-suite bathroom and natural sunlight streaming through the large windows. Oh, and did we mention the walnut flooring and additional amenities such as central heating and A/C, in-unit washer and dryer, a powder room for guests, and a custom sound system with Sonos and built-in speakers throughout the unit?

According to our Property Records database, Frankel first purchased the unit #2D at 22 Mercer Street back in 2014 under Beyond Hudson, LLC, for $4.2 million. Less than three years after owning this residence, Frankel decided to put it on the market for $5.3 million, or $2,195/sf in February 2017, 26% higher than what it was paid for. The unit then went on and off the market several times, struggling to find its next owner. In February 2019, after being on the market for over six months with a reduced asking price of $4.5 million (15% lower than its initial asking price in 2017), the unit once again went off-market. 22 Mercer Street #2D is currently listed for $4,375,000, with an estimated monthly payment of $26,026.

Ramona Singer – 201 E 80th Street #16E

Ramona Singer, the only Housewife who has been in all 11 seasons of RHONY, is also looking to sell one of her estates that she got to keep after her divorce with Mario Singer. The fashionista and her then-husband first bought the unit together in 1997. The unit was then transferred solely to Ramona in September 2015 as the couple finalized the divorce after Mario’s infidelity.

Located on the southwestern corner of Yorkville, 201 E 80th Street, also known as the Richmond, is a full-service condominium with a 24-hour doorman and a beautifully landscaped roof deck, and #16E is one of the trophy corner units in this highly desirable UES condo building. Spreading over 2,400 square feet, this unit comes with 4 bedrooms, 3.5 bathrooms, an expansive living and dining room with over 9-foot high beamed ceilings, and an open chef’s kitchen. Thanks to the floor-to-ceiling windows, the unit is constantly filled with natural and warm sunlight.

The gracious master bedroom suite, which spans over 250 square feet, includes a walk-in closet, two wall closets, and an en-suite, five-fixture marble bathroom with includes a soaking tub, glass enclosed shower, and double vanity. The massive windows also provide impeccable city views to the West. Aside from the master bedroom suite, the unit also includes a 12’ x 24’ bedroom equipped with an en-suite bathroom, making it a perfect guest room. Additional apartment features include a powder room, in-unit washer and dryer, abundant storage space, and an integrated audio system.

Under Singer’s ownership, the unit underwent major renovations in 2017 (which is no news if you follow the RHONY mama closely on Instagram), which transformed the apartment from a warm, pre-war unit to a chic residence with modern light fixtures, top-of-the-line kitchen appliances, and bright white color palette. But, for Ramona Singer, if she’s over something, she’s over something. Now that her daughter Avery finally moved out on her own, Singer is not into this beauty anymore. Singer first listed this apartment for sale in June 2018, for $5 million, or $2,024/SF. The price then dropped to $4.8 million in November, and in February 2019, after 8 months of trying to sell the unit, Singer again dropped the price to $4.6 million, 8% lower than the initial asking price. The unit is currently still on the market, with a listed price of $4,595,000, or $1,862/sf.
