Introducing the Property Records Search With Celebrity Property Investments!

Introducing RealtyHop’s Newest Feature: The Property Records Search

Celebrity real estate is always big news. It’s celebrities and it’s entertaining. It also can help increase the prices of available properties nearby as a celebrity might make that specific area more attractive. Finding out where celebrities live is not an easy task unless the media does the digging for you. Since home purchases are public, and celebrities usually are of the private sort, most public figures establish an LLC or a trust so the purchase isn’t directly in their name and the address of the property remains private, for a while.

However, there are celebrities that do sign their name on the documents when closing the deal for a property. With the Property Records Search, users can search for individuals and organizations who have bought or sold properties simply by doing a search on our site. While this information is all publicly available through ACRIS, ACRIS being the Automated City Register Information System that allows the public to search property records and view document images for Manhattan, Queens, Bronx, and Brooklyn from 1966 to the present, we have made it a lot more user-friendly to conduct searches. The Property Records Search feature is useful for several reasons:

1. It provides potential buyers with the tool they need to make an informed buying decision by:

    • Allowing buyers to view the entire sales history of the unit and similar units in the same building and/or neighborhood.
    • The buyer stands stronger when negotiating a price by having more options than just knowing the asking price of the rental unit.
    • Providing the market value of neighborhoods and areas, which can be beneficial for new buyers looking to do research on affordable neighborhoods and areas.

2. It serves as a user-friendly tool to access NYC property records for those interested in learning more about their building, neighborhood, and surrounding area.

So what kind of celebrities can we find using the Property Records Search? Obviously, finding A-list stars like Beyoncé, Jennifer Aniston, and Tom Hanks can be rather hard as they most likely will be purchasing through an LLC or a trust, as most A-list stars do. It is, however, not impossible if you don’t mind doing some digging for the specific LLC or trust. So let’s see who we can find, by looking up some random celebrity names.

Doing a quick search on our site using the Property Records Search, we were able to find eight celebrities who in the past purchased real estate in New York City, more specifically in Manhattan. The timeline graphic to the left shows examples of celebrities deciding to invest in real estate in Manhattan when they bought, and for how much from 2007 to 2017. Since home purchases are public, in the Property Records Search, one can even see the exact address and unit number for the purchase.

The cheapest of the purchases listed is Chris Noth by aka Mr. Big from Sex and the City, for $1,850,000 last summer. He purchased a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom in Lenox Hill. The most expensive real estate purchase on the list is by Uma Thurman for a whopping 10,000,000 back in 2013. The most interesting find was Lin-Manuel Miranda‘s purchases, with two units in the same building for the total cost of $2,540,000 in 2017.

Other celebrities we could find information on included Daniel Radcliffe, Cynthia Nixon, Norman Reedus, Jared Kushner, and Samantha Bee. As there is no limit to how far back you can go in the search, you should be able to find any celebrity who purchased or sold property in the past, as long as they didn’t use an LLC or a trust. When home purchases are public, it is easy to find out who lives where. Whether you are interested in looking up your favorite celebrities, political figures, or just your family and friends, the Property Records Search is just the tool you need. While this can be a great tool for those just looking to do some searching for entertainment purposes, it is also great for those looking to purchase a new home. The feature allows you to see the entire sales history along with units currently for sale and previously sold. If you are looking to buy in a particular neighborhood or building complex, finding out as much as you can about the market value of the apartments around is important for negotiating the asking price.

The Public Records Search is not only a great feature for finding out where your favorite celebrities are located, but it is also a tool that allows you to see the entire sales history along with units currently for sale and previously sold to help you with the buying process.
