Samuel Jackson and LaTanya Richardson — 26 East 63rd Street, New York, NY

Samuel Jackson, one of the most well-known and talented actors of our time, and his wife LaTanya Richardson recently decided to sell their long-time Upper East Side home, 26 East 63rd Street. The unit hit the market on November 5th, 2018, with a listed price at $13,000,000, almost three times than what the couple had paid for back in 2005.

A bit about this building – 26 East 63rd Street, a.k.a. The Leonori, has been a shiny star in Upper East Side, at the southeast corner of Madison Avenue/63rd Street, since 1901. This pre-war building was developed by Maximilian Morgenthau and designed by architects Buchman and Fox. Instead of building an apartment house, the developer’s vision was to build the largest apartment hotel on Madison Avenue. The hotel was completed in the summer of 1902 and was leased to Charles Leonori.

In 1946, the famous and fashionable Quo Vadis occupied the restaurant space inside the Leonori, attracting celebrities such as Andy Warhol, Jacqueline Kennedy, and Frank Sinatra. Years later, with apartment hotels becoming obsolete, the subsequent owner of the building converted it to condominium ownership in 1983. The Leonori, now landmarked, has kept its original neo-classic limestone façade, along with 68 units, including a penthouse.

Jackson and his wife resided in unit #8BCD for over a decade. Approximately 3,000 square feet in size, this apartment comes with 4 bedrooms, 3.5 bathrooms, an eat-in kitchen, and a wet bar. As you can see from the floorplan, the open and spacious living space is right off the entry gallery, offering a nice city view. On the left side of the entry gallery is the elegant and high-end kitchen/den with ample sunlight shining through the windows. The den also has a good mixture of white walls and a contemporary built-in wooden wall/storage space.

The master bedroom has a large bathroom with a large white bathtub and a large walk-in closet with extra storage space. It even has a dedicated shoe storage cabinet – which is definitely a must for a celebrity home. Right next to the master bedroom are another two bedrooms, one slightly larger with no closet, and the other one with a closet, both with natural sunlight.

It is unknown how long it is going to take for the Jacksons to sell this unit, considering where we are in the real estate cycle. But this unit is truly a beauty, and with the amazing amenities and history the building has to offer, it should not take long for the highest-earning box office star to spin off this property.

Leonardo DiCaprio – 1675 Angelus Avenue, Los Angeles, CA

We have some great news from Los Angeles! The Oscar winner, actor, and producer Leonardo DiCaprio now has a contract pending for his unique Spanish Hacienda. It is no surprise that as one of the shiniest stars in Hollywood, the Great Gatsby star DiCaprio is known for his real estate empire. He has properties in Battery Park, New York, Palm Springs, Malibu’s Billionaires Beach, Hollywood Hills, and Los Feliz in Los Angeles, and he even owns an island, Blackadore Caye, right off the Central American country Belize.

Built in 1931, 1675 Angelus Avenue has kept some of its most original features, including the colorful Spanish tiles, high-beamed ceilings, terra-cotta floors, and carved wood doors. DiCaprio bought the house for $775,000 20 years ago for a family member. Taking up a sizable 3,560 square feet, the house comes with 4 bedrooms and 4.5 bathrooms, as well as a chef’s kitchen. The most amazing features of the property, perhaps, are the pool and the covered Pavilion. This house has been on the market for 45 days, and the star was able to find a buyer submitting an offer after dropping the price from $1.75 million to $1.6 million on November 20, 2018.
